To become a doctor. The medical section of the General Association of Students has just established, “for documentary purposes”, what it costs for a post-war student to obtain their medical degree. Here are the figures that a careful investigation made it possible to fix for the budget for a year: Room and board: 6,000 francs. With the purchase of books, paid conferences, transport costs, etc., we can, without exposing ourselves to the reproach of exaggeration, bring this total to 9,000 francs. Six years of study including the P. C. N. gives the sum of 51,000 francs to which are added, for obtaining the diploma and the thesis, 240 francs in university fees and 1,250 francs in printing costs. It is therefore an expense of at least 56,000 francs that one must pay now to become a doctor. And this is, of course, only a minimum budget, that of the young hardworking man. |
