A centenary worth another
But yes, since it is currently the fashion to celebrate a host of centenarians, we can point out one to Parisians who, no doubt, would not think of it. Let them know that it was just a century ago that the so-called house of François-I, known to all, was rebuilt at the corner of rue Bayard and Cours La Reine, now Cours Albert-I. This house, built by François I in Moret in 1523, was sold by the French government in 1824 to an individual who had it transported stone by stone to the location it occupies today. This operation greatly interested the Parisians of the time and all the newspapers talked about it.
Despite its respectable age, this charming little Renaissance palace is in very good condition and remains one of the artistic curiosities of the capital.
