BOURDILLON is of debated origin, Turkish or Greek? In this severe ordeal, he risks losing his thing, his Greek and his... Latin.

SAROUL, trained in Champagne, is new; he has good press.

GRAND PRIX DU PALAIS-BOURBON (Steeple Chase)

An innumerable crowd had literally invaded the various enclosures of our racecourse. The number of spectators is estimated at nearly 90,000. The sun, this magician, gave a particular character to the dresses of our elegant ladies and seemed to further brighten the showy colors. Red is being worn a lot this year. The Lawn appeared like an immense field of poppies.

We waited with feverish impatience for the time of departure. To excite the punters, we heard several bells ringing.

The Stable of the Socialist Union is torn from the Mutuel. This is the placement of the father of the family. The bell rings. Thin whips ride horses.

VEYREN, to whom the crack TORRES is entrusted, is very surrounded. He does not hide his absolute confidence. He, who is for the class struggle, finds his horse downgraded! To conquer without danger, we triumph without glory!

HUBERT GIRAUD, whom OLIVER rides, leaves quite neglected on the lawn. At the weigh-in, a few rich bettors support his luck.

BOUISSON is very nervous, he seems worn out, his jockey BOCCO smiles philosophically; after this one, another, he said, the horses' mother is not dead!
