Cinema for dogs The director of the Marble Arch Pavillion Cinema, in London, has just implemented a certainly original idea which will certainly be followed in other countries. He had a performance given only for dogs. At the entrance, there was a controller who checked the identity of the dogs escorted by their masters. Only large breed dogs with an authentic pedigree were admitted to the show. Greyhounds, greyhounds, spaniels, setters, pointers soon filled the room. The first film representing the work of learned dogs was viewed by the audience with attention mixed with disdain. A film in which Charlot appeared in the company of his dog Rintintin provoked approving barking. But the triumph was the unfolding of a hunt on screen. The enthusiasm even degenerated into a terrible fight, because, when the deer galloped past the canvas, three large hunting dogs escaped from their masters and rushed, head down, onto the screen which they tore with their teeth. The manager declares himself very satisfied with the recipe. Despite this incident, he will give a similar performance every week. When will there be cinema for cats, canaries and other friends of men? (Freedom) |
