Page two - Rigadin tours and plays in Romania. The publication of a letter from Ch. Prince posted from Bucharest, which reports the friendship of the Romanians for the French, the wonderful welcome he received in Romania so that he could play with the Romanian actor TanadeConstantin Tănase (born July 5, 1880 in Vaslui, Vaslui, Romania - died August 29, 1945, Bucharest, Romania) was a Romanian stage and vaudeville actor, a famous coupletist and a key figure in Romanian revue theater. He was born into a modest family (his father, Ion Tănase, was a pharmacy technician), in a peasant house in Vaslui, Vaslui County. He was a mediocre student, with the highest grades in music and sports, and his first contact with theatre was attending performances at the "Pîrjoala" kindergarten, where folk theatre was performed, with actors such as Zaharia Burienescu and I.D. Ionescu.

This inspired him to create an amateur theatre troupe with his friends, with whom he performed scenes from the plays Meșterul Manole, Capitanul Valter Mărăcineanu or Constantin Brâncoveanu, their first stage being the cellar of the house. Over time, the performances moved to the barn and even to the paddock.

The first professional experience as an actor took place in the Yiddish-language theater troupe led by Mordechai Segalescu: they needed an actor for a show in Vaslui and the young Tănase was chosen, who was already constantly rehearsing. In 1896, he finished his secondary education and, despite his desire to become an actor, he enrolled in the military high school in Iași, where he was rejected at the medical exam... Disappointed, he went to Brăila, where he briefly attended the "Nicolae Bălcescu" high school, which he had to leave after a few weeks due to lack of money.

In Brăila, he became friends with the teacher and writer Ion Adam, who offered the 18-year-old his chair in Cursești, Rahova, since Adam was going to take courses in Belgium. He did quite well as a teacher, but he clashed with the principal and some teachers. With Adam's help, he got another job in Hârșoveni, Poenești, where the poet Alexandru Vlahuță had studied.

Tănase quickly developed his own teaching style, emphasizing music and gymnastics, which attracted new students to the school. The students' parents were also involved in school activities, through school trips, where he taught history and geography.

Early arriving as a well-liked character in the locality, he attracted the dislike of the notary and some local lawyers who did not appreciate his methods, so much so that Tănase was eventually expelled. On October 14, 1899, he found himself in Bucharest, where he voluntarily enlisted in the 1st Regiment of Geniu Bucharest. After completing his military training, he enrolled in the Drama Conservatory, graduating in 1905.

He began working in the theater and married Virginia Niculescu in 1917. In 1919, he founded the Carăbuș theater troupe in Bucharest, with which he would create over the next 20 years a tradition of cabaret/revue theater, a tradition that is still present today, especially at the "Constantin Tănase" Revue Theater, which still operates at the address of the former "Cărăbus" on Calea Victoriei, 33-35, in the heart of Bucharest.

In the good tradition of great actors, he created a type of character, that of the simple, humble and troubled citizen, always at odds with the bureaucracy of the state apparatus; his character, unique in his classic checked suit, chrysanthemum in the buttonhole and cane, becomes the spokesperson for an entire social class, which will often bring him to the attention of the censors.

With "Cărăbuș", he has toured extensively throughout the country and at least once in Turkey.Tănase also performed in Paris. One source mentions the actor's charitable works – 3 primary schools and a church. In "Cărăbuș", Tănase launched the careers of many artists, including Maria Tănase and Horia Șerbănescu. He was decorated on January 28, 1942 with the Order of the "Crown of Romania" in the rank of Commander.

Five gargantuan hours, bon appétit and don't forget the Veloni ice cream

And did you know that Saint-Raphaël was called Barrathon (Barrat-thon) in honor of Barras to compete with its neighbor, Marathon (Marat-thon), Saint-Maximin and that the legend of the sardine that had blocked the port of Marseille has a link with Barras?

Paul Barras, a French politician

And according to a latest information from La Bignole, the municipality of Saint-Raphaël would consider changing the name of its commune again to Masquethon or Masquetout (Masque-thon), in honor of its mayor and his panties

And prices have skyrocketed, probably due to inflation... In 2018, if you were walking around in a swimsuit in the same city, the fine was 38 euros

Page One - Mr. Mouthiers, pictured with his robe and hat, is retiring. Mr. d'Herbel has taken the oath to succeed him as bailiff of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance and the Assize Court of Seine-et-Oise. A brief reminder of the career of the court usher, Mr. Mouthiers, who saw Zola pass by and who was "Landru's usher"

And Landru, still in the news, even a century later: Theatrical representation of the LANDRU trial: when the theater resurrects the story of a French serial killer. The Limoges Court of Appeal hosted a theatrical performance staging the trial of Henri Désiré... faithful to reality... this trial repeated more than 80% of the sentences pronounced during the original trial of 1921. The performance toured France, Laval, Foix... And who plays Me Mouthiers, the bailiff of Landru? Another forgotten or a little hand ignored by history?

And on Landrumania from the 20th to the 21st century

A photo that deserves a look and even a magnifying glass to admire the details of Brussels life in the past, including trams, vehicles of the time and many pedestrians. And the comparison with today, a lot of changes. Today Le Palace has become the " DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City " Note that the entrance to the hotel has changed from west to east, from Place Rogier to Rue Gineste, since it is no longer the "The Crowne Plaza Brussels" or could it be the renovation of the original facade, the one with the sign at the top of the building? Or was the sign with its clock moved?

But back to the advertising of the time, which includes, finally on the façade, an advertisement for The Château d'Ardenne hotel, 100 kilometers from Brussels, open all year round, a first-rate restaurant and which was destroyed
