SAINTE-MAXIME.

On Sunday, the town hall, through the care of Mr. Granier, notary, held the auction of a communal plot of land measuring 1,529 m2, put up for sale at a starting price of 30,000 francs. Thanks to the clever publicity given to this matter by Mr. Granier, the said plot of land was awarded, after lively bidding, for the price of 49,000 francs. The sum raised from this sale was to be used for the construction of workers' housing and the share provided by the State being proportional to this sum, we are pleased with the sale in question.
