Is the affair of the manuscripts of Titus Livius nothing but a hoax?
Rome, September 17. The ministerial commission has questioned Mr. di Martino. The professor has submitted a statement in which he states that a series of studies and lengthy research led him to the discovery of an absolutely unpublished document that no one had ever seen. According to this document, kept in a public place, it appears that a scribe had been commissioned to copy the texts of Titus Livius. It was on the basis of this document that Mr. di Martino had resumed his research with greater ardor and he claims that he was on the point of completing his research when the noise made around its discovery prevented him from doing so.
