IN NANTES, AN ISLAND COLLAPSES NANTES, September 24. Last night, the tip of Feydeau Island, which faces the port, collapsed into the Loire. This collapse caused the fall of the bell used to drive the piles that are to form a barrier between the tip of the island and the quay on which the Bourse station stands, in order to break the speed of the current and protect the quays upstream of the port from scouring. |
