A series of attacks in Guadeloupe Since the start of the election period, a reign of terror has reigned in Guadeloupe. On May 8, a bomb was placed in the office of the governor of the colony, Mr. Jocelyn Robert. On May 11, another bomb was thrown into the town hall of Pointe-à-Pitre, whose mayor, Mr. Jean-François, had just been elected deputy. Two days later, a device was placed at the home of Mr. Moynac, head of the public education department. A few days later, a fourth was committed at the home of the judge of Pointe-à-Pitre in charge of investigating these various attacks. A judgment, pronounced for facts dating back to 1922, condemned, in the meantime, Mr. René Boisneuf, former deputy of the colony. The next day, a bomb was thrown at the home of Mr. Laure, president of the court. On August 29, a new bomb was placed in the governor's palace, and in the first days of September, one exploded at the tax collector's house in the commune of Goyave. All these devices had, when they exploded, caused damage, fortunately without causing any human casualties. On September 12, the day before the cantonal elections, a tremendous explosion occurred in the commune of Gosier, at Mr. Anglas's house. The house collapsed, and under the rubble four bodies and three wounded were found. The investigation opened immediately has just led to the arrest of Mr. René Boisneuf, on whom serious suspicions weigh. |
