CURIOSITY

There was much talk yesterday at the Hôtel Drouot about the small painting by Cézanne that had been sold for 18,000 francs the day before in the Dearly collection. Let us recall that this canvas had only fetched 3,000 francs at the Hazard sale in 1919.
The week ended with a fairly quiet day. In room 1, M. Le Rique and M. Guillaume were finishing a three-day sale. A seventeenth-century Flemish tapestry, King Solomon speaking to his soldiers, went up to 14,500 francs, and a chest of drawers in marquetry of violet and rosewood to 10,200 francs.
Mr. A. de Cagny sold a Louis XVI porcelain clock for 20,100 francs... and Mr. Lair Dubreuil sold, before an audience in which the female element was in the majority, lace and furs with a single notable price of 20,100 francs. for a mink coat.
