THE MILITARY POWER OF THE SOVIETS
STRASBOURG, November 28. The Dernières Nouvelles de Strasbourg, publishes a letter from their private correspondent in Warsaw giving interesting details on Soviet armaments. Here are some extracts:
The Red Army with 750,000 men, represents the most important military power in Europe. For the financial year 1924-1925 the five Russian aircraft factories have received orders for 500 aircraft, some of which have already been delivered. The High Council of War recently ordered 330 Fokkers from Holland and 200 Savoy-type aircraft from Italy. The program for the air fleet provides for the existence of 10,000 aircraft. As for the maritime forces, the program provides for the construction of two small cruisers, plus 7 submarines and 4 destroyers for the Baltic for the four years of sale; for the Black Sea, 1 light cruiser, 8 destroyers, 12 coast guards; for the Far East, the construction of 6 gunboats.
