CURIOSITY Mr. Henri Baudoin yesterday finished this beautiful sale of earthenware which had attracted to the Hôtel Drouot so many well-known amateurs, such as Mr. Guerlain, Mr. Damiron, a collector from Lyon; Mr. Pescheteau, from Tours, and Mr. Abbé Sanson, happy purchaser of the Alcora dish and, yesterday, of the magnificent sugar bowl in old Rouen which he paid 18,600 francs. Great success, moreover, for our great national earthenware, the plate decorated with arabesques on an ochre background costing 12,300 francs, and a large polychrome deep dish 3,450 francs (purchased by the painter Lobre). The famous small reclining lions, on a black background, in Delft, did not exceed 21,000 francs. While noting that they were not worth the two roosters paid two years ago for 83,000 francs, I thought they would go higher. On the other hand, a small pair of bottles with so-called cashmere decoration were pushed by Mr. Guerlain up to 15,700 francs. Other dishes were paid between 4,000 and 5,000 francs. The extremely rare pigeon in Strasbourg ended the sale with a price of 5,700 francs. GALERIE G PETIT, Exhibition: collection of Mr. Viscount Beuret. Art and furniture objects from the eighteenth century and others. Old paintings, furniture, screens. (Ms Lair Dubreuil and H. Baudoin: Messrs. Féral, Mannheim, Paulme and Lasquin.)
