Ponpon has won

The famous "Ponpon", in other words the candy merchant Dacharry and his employee Cledière, have won their case. Mr. Poitevin, justice of the peace, rendered a judgment last Thursday that acquitted them of the ends of the complaint of the Public Prosecutor, without costs.
But... there is a but: this judgment recognizes the irregularity but not the illegality of the municipal by-law under which they were prosecuted: On the contrary, it applies in its reasons only to cover the abuse of power which consists in radically prohibiting all trade on the beach, an abuse of power which could be repeated under these conditions.
This is all the more unfortunate since it does not seem that any avenue of appeal is open against the reasons of a judgment to acquitted offenders.
