A deplorable automobile accident. On Tuesday, November 18, around noon, the carter Pecker Pierre, 65 years old, in the service of Mr. Lelong, merchant in Moncheux, was returning from the Liocourt station with a cart loaded with wine and was walking alongside his horses, when he was suddenly hit by a truck from the Pechelbronn mines which was arriving from Sarrebourg and heading towards Thionville. When the driver of the truck was able to stop his vehicle, Becker had ceased to live,
The gendarmerie and a doctor were notified by telephone. Mr. Prévôt, mayor of Moncheux, who was going on a trip, happened to be passing by with his car, and brought Becker's body back to his home.
