STORMS, FLOODS, FLOODING

The North and East of France are particularly suffering from bad weather, our correspondents are reporting storms and floods in these regions that could cause significant damage.
The coastline of the Somme, at Ault-Onival, is seriously threatened following the storm that has been going on for several days and has not completely subsided. The coastal barrier that protects the countryside between Ault, Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme and Le Hourdel is broken. The sea has invaded part of the fields.
The Meuse is also constantly rising. Several villages, notably Audreville and Varenne-en-Argonne, are invaded by waters that reach, in some places, more than a meter.
It is reported that the Moselle overflowed and immediately took on a large extension reminiscent of that of 1919. The damage is considerable in Epinal, the cellars of the residents are flooded, the Nancy-Epinal road is cut. In Rupt, farms had to be abandoned by their owners who took refuge on the heights.
