It has been confirmed that Mr. Austen Chamberlain and Aristide Briand will meet in Geneva at the next Council of the League of Nations, whose session opens on June 8.

Will Mr. Logan, Observer on the Reparations Commission, Maintain His Resignation?

Washington, May 30. In political circles, it is reported that the State Department is trying to persuade Mr. Logan, who has resigned as an observer on the Reparations Commission, to reverse his decision.

The Communist Party Congress Opens in Glasgow

London, May 30. - The conference of the English Communist Party held its first session today in Glasgow. Shortly before the opening of the debate, an unknown person spilled the contents of two bottles filled with a foul-smelling liquid onto the floor, which, for more than an hour, bothered those present. Mr. Harry Pollitt, who presided, declared that Mr. McDonald was completely unqualified to represent the British workers.
The 200 delegates then voted on a motion of sympathy for "the Bulgarian Communists persecuted by a bloodthirsty government."

Anti-Japanese Riot in Shanghai

Six Dead and Many Wounded
London, May 30. An anti-Japanese demonstration took place in Shanghai. Police fired on the crowd, killing six people and wounding many others. About thirty rioters were arrested. The movement is said to have begun with an attack on a police station where the leaders of a student demonstration had been detained for distributing anti-Japanese leaflets. Order was restored.
