The Villefranche-sur-Mer Sailing Club held its interesting regional regattas on Sunday and Monday with complete success. An unprecedented number of boats took part in the seventeen events of the meeting, which took place in the harbor, in the presence of a crowd of spectators.

Other events were also on the program: Swimming races, organized by the Cercle des Nageurs de Nice; boules competition, contested by members of the Union Bouliste Villefranche; releasing pigeons, done by Mr. Roux, from La Colombe de la Riviera; finally, a big ball on the mainland of the port, to the sounds of an excellent orchestra.

The band of the 24 B.C.A. lent, on the other hand, its valuable assistance. It was more than enough to attract a lot of people. So there was intense excitement these two days in the pretty maritime city.

We congratulate Mr. Alexandre Ponte, from the Girelling-Club of Nice, whose boat “La Charlotte” easily won the first race, to which the “Avala Group” cup was allocated, which definitively goes to this competitor, already winner of the last year.

Let us also congratulate the organizers who did things magnificently. The Races Committee included: MM. C.-L. Thaon, commissioner general; Jules Rozès, X.-D. Audibert, Antoine Zanarelli, Jean Guidi. The Ball Committee was composed of: MM. Castex, Merlo, E. Mangiapan, Bracco, Fr. Mangiapan, Subi, Thaon, Ricardo, Giaume, Schaub, Vacchetta. Misses Anna Ughetti, Frida Magrone, Jeanne Nicolin, Anna Zanarelli and Laurence Mangiapan formed the graceful swarm of bridesmaids.

The dancing was very lively, further increasing the splendor of the party, which attracted a large crowd to Villefranche. Let's say that the ball was organized on Place Wilson, by MM. Beaumont and Gordolon, from Nice, with the renowned Palmaro orchestra, from Monaco.
