SHOT FROM A CAR A BULLET WOUNDS PRINCESS OUROUSSOF IN ANOTHER CAR

We are lost in conjectures about the causes of this strange aggression that nothing justifies

The man who fired the shot was no more than twenty-five years old and his car happened to pass that of the princess.

Around half past eleven in the evening, the automobile of Marquis Louis Villehermose, who lives at 19, boulevard Haussmann in Paris, returning from Saint-Germain-en-Laye and heading towards Paris, passed avenue de Paris in Rueil. It was driven by Mr. Jean Riss, driver in the service of the Marquis. In the vehicle were the latter, his wife and two of their friends, Prince Chirinski, living at 16, rue Saint-Guillaume, and Princess Irène Ouroussoff, who occupies an apartment at 8, boulevard de La Tour-Maubourg.

At Malmaison, an olive green automobile, driven by two young people, passed the Marquis's car. The young man, who was standing next to the driver, dressed in a brown sweater, wearing a cap and who appeared to be twenty-five years old, suddenly stood up and gestured at the precise moment when the two cars crossed paths. .

At the same moment, Princess Ouroussoff uttered a cry. She had just been hit by a projectile above the right eye. The shock caused a wound four centimeters wide which exposed the frontal bone. The princess immediately received the care of Doctor Audain, then returned to Paris.

The region's gendarmerie set out in search of the strange attackers. We saw their car stop 150 meters away, then drive away at full speed before we had the chance to read the number.

Was the attack premeditated or was it rather a stupid act committed by a man who was excited or intoxicated? We don't know yet.

In the absence of Princess Ouroussoff, who did not receive, we managed to contact the Marquis de Villehermose who was kind enough to tell us that the victim's condition was as satisfactory as possible.

Doctors believe that the injury was caused by a revolver bullet, which had even passed a few millimeters from the optic nerve. The impression of a brutal shock perceived by the princess and the absence of any detonation initially suggested that the attackers had only thrown a stone.

On the other hand, the elevation above the ground of the body of the suspect car suggests that we are dealing with an average automobile. power, an old model, two-seater, and poorly maintained.
