JAPAN AND AMERICA

WE ARE NOTING A CERTAIN RELAXATION IN JAPAN

But the Japanese are boycotted in Mexico.

TOKIO, June 18. The Osaka Mainitchi of June 15 declared that dissatisfaction with the United States was inevitable in Japan, but that it did not follow that Japan should move toward a breakup. The goal towards which we must aim is the maintenance of friendly relations and not destruction or war.

The Hootchi, of Tokyo, writes in an article entitled: "The attitude worthy of a great nation", that it is regrettable that the anti-American movement which has spread throughout the country has resulted in extravagances which were useless.

In general, we can see in the press that her attitude, initially a little too excited, has changed and that she approves the instructions given by the Tokyo police chief.

The boycott of the Americans

LONDON, June 18. Word has come from Tokyo that in a mass meeting which took place yesterday in Yokohama, a resolution to boycott American goods was passed.

Mexico refuses the creation of a Japanese colony

MEXICO CITY, June 18. A group of Japanese who intended to found a colony in Mexico have just been refused permission to purchase land in Manzanillo. In a statement which has just been published, General Calles, Minister of the Interior, said he was unaware of any promise to grant this permission.
