Did you know, for example, that there are manufacturers of electric batteries and induction coils for reluctant racehorses? Let us explain:
The dry battery, of very small dimensions, is housed on the sides of the jockey's belt, near a small transformer. Carefully hidden wires go down to the spurs. If a horse seems to be going to "snort" at the starter's signal, the jockey tightens his elbows; he thus establishes contact and, by the spurs that he pricks appropriately, the animal receives a discharge in the flanks, without any danger, of 4 to 5,000 volts.
The horse always sets off, we were told; when it is not forward, it is backward, but it always sets off.
Better, for everyone, that it is forward...
