A GREAT EXPLOIT One Bailiff expels another
They say that two augurs cannot look at each other without laughing. The bailiffs are much more serious. So it was with an impassive face that a bailiff from Saint-Germain presented himself, yesterday morning, at 7 o'clock, rue Pierre-Corneille, to the home of his colleague, M° Delannoix. It was with no less dignity that he received him and learned from him that his request for a period of fifteen days to evacuate his accommodation had just been rejected by the Versailles court. He told him at the same time that his landlady, who had mercilessly demanded his eviction in order to move her daughter into her house, was softening to the point of sending him a moving car. M° Delannoix firmly replied that, bowing to the court's decision, he had notified his own movers and only intended to deal with them. They, in fact, soon packed the bailiff's furniture and loaded it. However, on the sidewalk opposite, the owner, seated on a folding chair, was enjoying her triumph. Alas! Heaven is not kind to victorious owners and the rain, many times, despite the rubber with which she had taken the precaution of wrapping herself, forced her to abandon her observatory and seek the shelter of a hospitable porch. . However, the bad weather did not overcome his vigilant guard. Until the evening, assisted by her bailiff who was poorly protected by her glasses, she checked whether her ex-tenant was taking all the necessary speed to pack up, ready, if not, to call the commissioner for help. Philosophically, during this time, Me Delannoix continued his move. I am surprised that I was not granted the fifteen day deadline that I requested, he told us. It wasn't much. But it would have been very useful to me. In fact, I only have accommodation for October 1st and I have a sick relative. Finally, fortunately in the meantime I was able to find a furnished apartment. We see that in the end everything works out, and perhaps we could see in all this only a banal story. Yet why not believe that September 19 is an important date in the history of property? Doesn't it make a mark, in fact. for once, a blatant disagreement between owners and bailiffs who, until now, had accustomed us to more unity.
