We know that the Automobile-Club de l'Ouest would commemorate, on the occasion of its automobile meeting, the Cinguantenaire de l'Automobile and the construction carried out in 1871 by Amédée Bollée, father of the Obéissante car which, two years later, was to make the Le Mans-Paris journey. This journey made a deep impression at the time on all those who saw this imposing and extraordinary vehicle circulating.
The fiftieth anniversary of its construction will be celebrated at Le Mans with the greatest simplicity, but we nevertheless believe it useful to draw the attention of our readers to the organization which was decided and developed by the directors of the Automobile-Club de l 'West.
During the afternoon of Saturday, September 22, they will first accompany Mr. Amédée Bollée fils and his family to the grave of the great inventor from Le Mans and will place a bronze plaque there in memory of the celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the 'Automobile. then, at the end of this small, very intimate ceremony, the Automobile-Club de l'Ouest will receive in its lounges, 34, place de la République, Mr. Amédée Bollée fils, his family and numerous personalities from the industry automobile, the authorities of the city of Le Mans, the department of Sarthe and the West region, the Parisian, regional and sports press, and will offer its guests a reception during which the work of ' Amédée Bollée father. The next day, the Obéissante, which is still in good working order and which cheerfully accomplishes its thirty kilometers per hour, will go to the permanent Sarthe circuit and, between the two events on the program, Coupe Internationale des Voiturettes and Grand Prix des Cyclecars, will tour the circuit under the leadership of Mr. Amédée Bollée fils, who will be accompanied by the most qualified representatives of the automotive world who will come to Le Mans on the occasion of the important celebrations that, with his usual enthusiasm, is preparing the West Automobile Club. |
