A Typist’s Day?
The fiftieth anniversary of the first typewriters will be celebrated soon in America. she is famous. The first type of these machines was created, in fact, in 1873, by Christopher Latham Sholes. But it was only about fifteen years later that typewriters were really used, They have only become commonplace, so to speak, about twenty years ago. With them was created not only a new industry, but a profession which was soon to be among the most widespread. Will we celebrate, here, as in the New World, the fiftieth anniversary of the typewriter? Why not ? A Typist’s Day would certainly be a great success.
