Small Papers
Readers of a newspaper usually know only the contributors whose names they read at the bottom of an article. Of the diligent hands that materially compose the beriodic, they care not. However, the “typefaces” are very much alive characters and the editors of a sheet. Sometimes have surprises about their duty. In the last “little paper” relating to the Arles costume celebrations, a truncated sentence gave me some humor, I admit. The name of the President of the Organizing Committee of these celebrations has been surreptitiously concealed. I offer here my apologies to M. I would certainly not want to upset him by pointing out in this way an error of which he is not the author and is only important in my eyes. And since I also questioned him, allow me to present him in all sympathy, in his true appearance dressed in his ink-stained blouse, the “composter” in his fingers, the “freelancer” wrapped around his neck, prompt in his gestures, his eyes cold and concentrated, the speaking dry. Orderly, meticulous, scrupulous, not always “convenient” in work, the authors are indebted to him for more satisfactions than disappointments. And, personally, I cannot forget that he gave all his care to the fine edition of "La Pierre Écrite" which came off the presses of Félix Carbonnel some twelve years ago, ROUX-SERVINE |
