La Plaine Monceau is still without electricity
Monday's outage is the subject of a debate at the General Council. In the session it held this morning, the General Council of the Seine dealt with the interruption of electricity which, since the evening before last, has deprived several districts of the right bank of light. Mr. Froment-Meurice, advisor to Madeleine, asked for explanations on this subject and Mr. Frédéric Brunet reported that the short circuits had been so violent that they caused several personal accidents, including one very serious. The works director responded that the initial cause of this interruption was an unfortunate pick-axe from a digger who, in a trench on the public road, hit a main cable. Several hundred fuses have blown and the searches that must be carried out to find their locations are long and difficult. This explains the delays experienced in restoring power. This accident is one of the most serious we have seen in a long time. We are doing everything possible to restore light to the residents, but the operation will take some time, especially since many private installations have been seriously damaged.
