The campaign continues across the Rhine for Germany's entry into the League of Nations. (From our private correspondent) Berlin, July 18. — The movement in favor of Germany's entry into the League of Nations is growing ever more important. During a meeting held yesterday evening by the German League for Human Rights, the President of the Reichstag, Mr. Loehe, and Professor Einstein. particularly insisted on the importance of a step taken in this direction by the German government. In his speech, General von Demling declared: "In requesting entry into the League of Nations, I act out of love for our country, during the world war, which is an unfortunate homeland, and because I learned during the World War that it is better and more reasonable for people to understand each other rather than to kill each other. » The speaker added: “The next war will amount to the complete destruction of Germany. Anyone who loves his homeland cannot desire a new war. Those who are currently speaking in the opposite direction are those who were furthest behind during the war. This is not only madness, but a crime. When these so-called patriots, with their stupid demands, pour water under the mills of Poincaré.” A motion, adopted unanimously. by all present, was addressed to the Chancellor to demand that Germany request its admission to the League of Nations for the month of September 1923 DE VILLEMUS |
