We repack the Flemish masterpieces

The Exhibition of Ancient and Modern Belgian Art at the Jeu-de-Paume des Tuileries having closed on Sunday evening, the repackaging of the masterpieces lent by France, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Since then, he has been operating with the order and precision required for such a delicate operation. Let us remember, in fact, that the Flemish masters of the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries alone had total insurance exceeding 75 million francs. Do we want some individual figures? The Van Eyck Adam and Eve, belonging to Ghent Cathedral, is insured for 10 million; the portrait of Van Eyck's wife for 2 and a half million; the Memling diptych, loaned by the Saint-Jean hospital, in Bruges, for 3 million; the three paintings from Vienna (the little Rubens and two Breughels) for 8 million; the double portrait of a Van Dyck man, for 12 million.
It is understandable that the shipping, guarding and return of objects to which such material value is attached, notwithstanding their artistic value, are not without causing some concern to the responsible intermediaries. So they will only sleep soundly when all these precious masterpieces have returned to their homes.
