AFTER THE CAPITULATION Calm reigns in Bavaria and throughout Germany
Berlin, September 28. The latest information received from Munich confirms that calm reigns in Bavaria. Mr. de Kahr authorized the meeting planned for this evening by the “Rossbach” Association, on the condition that no party speeches would be delivered there, but only patriotic speeches. The “German Day” organized for tomorrow and Sunday in Bayreuth was also authorized under the same conditions. Yesterday evening there was a meeting of the Bavarian patriotic associations which, as we know, placed themselves under the orders of Mr. de Kahr. The presidents of these associations gave speeches on the political situation and adopted a resolution which states: “The cessation of passive resistance in the Ruhr has convinced us once again of the inadequacy of the parliamentary regime; the patriotic associations of Bavaria no longer have any confidence in Mr. Stresemann and his foreign and domestic policy. On the other hand, we invite every right-thinking Bavarian to follow Kahr's orders in order to reestablish the authority of the State and the unity of the Reich in a truly German patriotic sense. Patriotic associations invite men to power in Bavaria and the Reich to free themselves from the Treaty of Versailles and to reestablish military service. Turnaround Berlin, September 28. Word comes from Munich to the Berlin Gazette at noon that, in the last twenty-four hours, there has been a change of heart! important and unexpected occurred in the situation and in the state of mind which reigns in Munich. The loser of the day is the nationalist leader Hitler. Ludendorff himself denied it.
