An interview with Senator Hitchcock Antwerp, July 21. — Interviewed by Le Matin d'Anvers, US Senator Hitchcock said that he thought it very difficult to ever admit the League of Nations to America. He then said that the action of France and Belgium in the Ruhr was currently legitimate ; but that in his opinion the allies had been wrong at the beginning of the peace. They should then have helped Germany to form a healthy and truly democratic Republic, for such a Republic will never wage an aggressive war. At the present time Germany finds herself between two dangers, the industrialists and the Soviets. One of the two will triumph, but in neither of these two cases will the people have won the victory. |
