A tremendous fire New York, September 18. — Word has come from San Francisco that a tremendous fire, which started in the forests of northern California, is currently ravaging Berkeley, the great university city of California. A hundred houses. are in ashes and the Faculty is almost completely destroyed. The flames spread to the commercial district. More than 2,000 residents are homeless. The fire, activated by a violent wind, developed rapidly. |
