Note of the Day Scam and scam
Nothing should be taken as tragic and not even Mussolini seriously. Otherwise we risk making a serious mistake on our account. While collecting these galéjades we just run the risk of forgetting someone. This one, however, deserves to go down in history. The Dictator, tired of being only the savior of Italy, rises to the pretension of being, in addition, the savior of religion. He places his riflemen at the service of the true God. And he judges which scams are legitimate and which are not. A former monk, Brother Salvatore di Binotto, had been excommunicated by the Council of Cardinals. On which, he had founded a new religion. Why not ? Didn't Benito himself create the fascio? The good brother proposed the new “Eucharistic God” to the worship of the faithful. A good idea, it seems, since the faithful flocked, in such large numbers, that they were able to build a church in the surroundings of Bari... Unfair competition. The true disciples of the true God filed a complaint. They accused the brother... of fraud. Yes. As if all churches were not, literally, scam companies if this is defined as in the Code extortion of funds against imaginary promises. But Mr. Mussolini alone knows where the tolerable fraud begins and ends. He therefore decided that Brother Binotto's was not and had the preacher arrested. No more, no less. Thanks be given to Benito in all the churches of Christendom which he saved from schism!
