SMALL MUSEUMS ARE NUMEROUS BUT LITTLE KNOWN The Henner Museum, open since Sunday to the public, is added to the list of what we could call small museums. Among the small museums, some, dedicated to the memory of an illustrious man, contain, in addition to his entire work or part of his work, the precious memories of his existence. Others contain testimonies of our history, the marks of a past that can only be found by crossing their threshold. Let us cite, among the lesser known of these small museums, the Gustave-Moreau museum which, at 14 rue La Rochefoucauld, contains the painter's entire work, and the Paul-Déroulède museum, 102, Faubourg-Poissonnière, where Memories of Déroulède's literary life and ardent political career are brought together. 41 rue Gay-Lussac houses the Educational Museum. In the seventeenth century, it was a convent. The building is now partly used for this museum, where, in four rooms, there is a library with numerous books and children's work. The Caen museum, quai Malaquais, is attached to the Institute. It is there, in a fairly narrow room where chairs and stools are pushed into corners, that the projects of the competitors for the prize are exhibited each year Achille-Leclère. It also contains a certain number of works executed by artists who were residents of the Villa Medici. |
