MONTE-CARLO CAR RALLY

Readers of L’Éclaireur du Dimanche are used to scoops. Here is another one today. The photo, which no organ has yet published, and which we are giving here, shows with precision the routes that the many competitors will have to travel, to find themselves all reunited in the beautiful Land of the Sun. But first, how many passes to cross! How many snow-covered towns to cross! How many difficulties will they have to overcome!

The event of the International Sporting Club and the Sport Automobile Vélocipédique of Monaco is, above all, a tourist event. Competitors are not asked to provide high averages, the excess speed leading to penalties, but to cover the distance that separates their starting town from Monaco at an average and regular pace. It is up to them to plan the time they will lose at a given place for crossing borders, for crossing mountainous regions, in countries where the roads will not allow the average to be maintained, etc., etc.
For the classification and the awarding of prizes which amount to more than 70,000 francs, the following are taken into account: the distance covered, the number of people transported, the speed achieved and the regularity of travel on a rough circuit.
This competition is open to cycle-cars, buggies and motor cars.
The competitors will set the day and time of this departure themselves, according to the hourly average they intend to achieve (maximum 30, minimum 15 kilometres per hour), so as to arrive in Monte Carlo on 22 January, between 9 and 17 hours.
The day after their arrival, they will have the option of participating in a hill climb which will be reserved exclusively for them and will have to parade, on 25 January, before a competent jury which will award prizes to the most comfortable cars.
Entries are accepted until December 31 at the International Sporting Club in Monte Carlo, and at the newspaper L'Auto, 10, rue du Faubourg-Montmartre, in Paris.

Entry fees: 50 francs per cycle-car or cart and 100 francs per car. Payment will be sent to any person who requests it from L'Éclaireur du Dimanche.
