MONTMARTRE DEPRIVATE OF WATER In a letter he sent yesterday to the prefect of the Seine, Mr. Jean Varenne, points out the difficult situation in which many tenants of upper Montmartre find themselves who are deprived of water. This shortage is due to the fact that the Montmartre reservoir is lower than many of the newly built buildings on the Butte. The meters are, on the other hand, insufficient to supply the upper floors. Mr. Varenne asks that the construction of the second upper reservoir which had been planned before the war be carried out and that, on the other hand, the owners be obliged to establish powerful meters which will usefully contribute to remedying the disadvantages of the current situation. |
