INSHORE FISHING
It's July, a time when seabird hunting on the beaches is all the more tempting since it can be done without a permit. From the mouth of the Somme to Honfleur, you'll find plovers, godwits, sandpipers, curlews, larks, and sea sparrows, and occasionally ducks or seabirds passing over the beaches. From La Dive to Granville, you can hunt ducks, teals, scoters, and small and large waders; further afield, along the coasts of Brittany to the cliffs of Finistère, you'll find gulls and cormorants. Herons, bitterns, spoonbills, coots, and curlews in the Bay of Biscay; coots and herons on the coasts of Hérault and Bouches-du-Rhône. Inshore fishing is also in full swing in July. And it's the month when amateurs happily come to mingle with professionals. But you have to love it and be willing to get up early.
