A CURIOUS TRIAL
Washington, July 25. - Invoking the terms of a treaty dating from 1855, Indians belonging to four different tribes have just filed a lawsuit claiming $68,707,000 in damages for lands they claim were wrongfully taken from them. The lands in question are located in the region now known as Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. There are still 12,953 Indians in this region, while in northern Wyoming their number has dwindled to less than 5,000. The plaintiffs belong to the following four tribes: the Blackfeet, the Gros Ventre, the Piegari, and the Nez Perce.
