Mascart has recounted in detail the story of his stay in America, which was marked, as we know, by some troubles. The most typical was his arrest by the New York police. Here are the facts: Mascart was scheduled to meet Kid Kaplan. He had a signed contract for this, but the New York State Boxing Commission didn't see it that way. It formally ordered the Frenchman to fight Babe Herman before the world featherweight champion. It is impossible, if the facts we report are accurate, and there is no reason to doubt them since they are reported to us by Mascart and Tiétard themselves, that the FFB would not protest such an approach. In this circumstance, it cannot fail to draw a parallel between Mascart's conduct and Johnny Dundee's gesture toward a French organizer, which the same New York Commission overlooked. - A. D.
