WHEN THE WIFE IS BURIED, THE HUSBAND IS ARRESTED
Marseille, June 20. Yesterday morning, the funeral of Irma Wurt, 63, wife of Jean Auguste, 75, a former manufacturer of food blades, living in Saint-Just, a suburb of Marseille, was held. However, in the afternoon, Mr. Wurt, a public works contractor and brother of the deceased, came to express his doubts about the cause of his relative's death, having noticed signs of strangulation on the body. The burial permit issued by the local doctor, which declared death due to congestion, was sought. An investigating judge was appointed and, accompanied by the deputy head of the Sûreté du Québec (Security Department), he went to see Jean Auguste, the husband. The latter, after the interrogation and having notably certified that he found his wife dead in his garden, was hospitalized in the consignment room at the Conception hospital, pending the end of the police investigations which, from that night, made it possible to establish that, during a quarrel, Auguste strangled his wife.
