| AIX. Last week, distinguished artists and lovers of Japanese art were passing through our city, MM. T. Masamune, from Tokyo; Simura and R, Ono, from Kobe. These gentlemen, who had come to visit the house and the memories of Paul Cézanne, gave happy news on the masterful works of the master from Aix, which are in Japan. They did not suffer from the earthquake and remain in the collections of Mr. Matsukata, of Kobe, and of Marquis Haskobrawa, of Tokyo. We know that there is a large landscape of Aix and a portrait of Cézanne by himself. A fifth work on our compatriot has just been published in Tokyo. Already last year, we received a visit from Mr. Hassegura, the art lover from the Japanese capital. |
