THE REICH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION Republicans Unite Around Herr Marx
Berlin, April 4. - The representatives of the Republican Center, Democratic, and Socialist parties notified the Reich Chief of Electoral Operations of Herr Marx's joint candidacy last night. This notification was accompanied by a letter from Herr Marx accepting his candidacy. Germania summarizes Herr Marx's political program as follows: to make possible the peaceful recovery of Germany; to protect her from all external and internal political experiments; to strengthen foreign confidence; and to admit Germany, as an equal member, into the family of civilized nations.
The Right-Wing Candidate The delegates of the Right-Wing bloc have declared that they have already designated their candidate. It is concluded that Herr Jarres will run again in the second round. It is claimed in certain parliamentary circles that Hindenburg's candidacy will again be discussed. The final announcement of the Right-Wing groups will take place on Wednesday. Following information from Munich, Hitler has instructed his supporters not to vote for a bourgeois candidate in the second round of voting under any circumstances. It is not yet known whether Ludendorff will run again. As for Dr. Simons, the interim president, he has firmly stated that not only will he not be a candidate to succeed President Ebert, but he will also oppose an extension of his current term by the Reichstag.

The New Prussian Cabinet Mr. Braun, elected President of the Prussian Council yesterday, took office this morning. He has no plans to reshuffle his former cabinet. The new cabinet held its first meeting today.
