L'Œuvre - March 29, 1925

Henri Olivier, known as "the Tiger," was guillotined on March 24, 1925.

The Thyroid Gland Transplant of the Tortured Olivier

Lille, March 28. The information published by certain newspapers, reporting the results of the thyroid gland transplant of the tortured Olivier, known as "The Tiger," and not of Pacrocki de Saint-Pol, as has been inaccurately reported, on a 5-year-old girl suffering from paralysis and being treated in Lille, must be accepted with all due reservations.
As is well known, Olivier's body, at the request of his lawyer, was not autopsied but was taken directly to the Eastern Cemetery.
Entrance to this cemetery, at the time of the burial, was closed to journalists and, even more so, to any other witness not involved in the legal process.
Conclusive information will not be available for about two weeks regarding the operation performed by Dr. Lefort on the young patient. His condition may have improved, but it is believed that this improvement may have come from causes entirely unrelated to the operation.
