Mr. Millerand pleads
Lorient, February 25. Today began the debates of a most important trial, for which the plaintiffs, Messrs. Vigneron and Dahl, of La Rochelle, had not hesitated to call upon Mr. Millerand, former President of the Republic, as their lawyer. Let us say first of all that he did not make a killing in Lorient, despite the publicity organized around his name for many weeks and although the stakes of the case were of real importance, since they amount to tens of millions. All afternoon, Mr. Millerand presented his clients' thesis and, tomorrow, the lawyers of the opposing parties will come to defend themselves against the accusations of counterfeiting brought against them. (Work.)
