NATIONALIST GERMANY Hitler enters the scene…
A “colossal” demonstration in a monumental beer hall
Berlin, February 28. The monumental beer hall in Munich, the Burgerbraukeller, made famous by Hitler’s putsch in November 1923, was yesterday the scene of a large demonstration in honor of Hitler, who was making his first reappearance on the political scene since his release. Several thousand people crowded well before the time of the meeting, around the edges of the hall, and to enter the premises, even journalists had to show their credentials. A large service of schupos kept the crowd together. When Hitler appeared, he was greeted by a storm of cheers. His speech lasted more than an hour, interrupted by the applause of the audience. He ended by declaring a bitter war on the Jews and the socialists, then left the hall to the strains of an anti-Semitic march.
