EFFECT. Present a silk scarf and, before the eyes of the audience, tie it in three or four places.
Holding between your thumb and forefinger a corner of the scarf, you give it a sudden, sharp shake; the knots have disappeared. The scarf has not undergone any preparation.
EXPLANATION. -It all depends on the way in which the knots are formed. The figure accompanying this trick will make you understand immediately...

You must get used to tying these knots very quickly, so that the assistants cannot know how you are doing it. In addition, before forming them, twirl the scarf along its entire length, holding it horizontally between your thumb and forefinger.
The scarf is therefore rolled up at the moment you tie it. The knots must not be tight. The fabric will be thin and elastic silk. It is necessary to give the scarf a very sharp blow so that the knots come undone.
