The Eclipse of the Sun
In London LONDON, January 24. - During almost the whole of the eclipse, clouds obscured the sun, and Londoners, much disappointed, were able to see the phenomenon only for very short intervals.
In New York NEW YORK, January 24. The eclipse of the sun was very well seen in New York and the eastern United States. In New York itself, darkness was almost complete at the time of the eclipse's maximum, and Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter, as well as other celestial bodies, were clearly visible above the horizon. The astronomers, who were 1,000 meters above the ground on board the dirigible Los Angeles, communicated with the earth by wireless telegraphy. According to information received so far, the weather was cloudy in other parts of the United States and Canada.
