The House-Boat of the Nice Nautical Club
The Nice Nautical Club has just taken possession of its house boat. For the moment, the "house boat" is reduced to a simple pontoon, in reinforced concrete, which was built in the Biot shipyards and brought to Nice on Saturday evening. The launching of this massive rectangular caisson, which weighs a hefty 300 tons, was not without difficulty. It was indeed a question of sliding it to the side, a method commonly used but not without difficulties. The efforts of a tugboat from the Port of Nice could not succeed in getting it off its cradle; it was necessary to call upon a more powerful vessel to carry out this task. Currently, the "house boat" is moored at the Port where its completion will continue. It must now receive its bodywork: two floors which will be assigned, the lower one which is about 50 centimeters above sea level to accommodate the boats; The upper one will be the headquarters of the C.N.N. and will include a large meeting room.
